Probably the best-known *G  I  N*  drink in America is the G and T. The distinct bitter note of tonic water comes from quinine, found in the bark of the Peruvian cinchona tree. As the British Empire expanded into the tropical region of India, malaria was a constant threat. Westerners learned from locals that the quinine extracted from the bark helped to treat and prevent malaria. Water was used to dilute the extreme bitterness. Further experimentation revealed that this tonic water was much improved with a generous splash of… (rhymes with grin). 🙂

Why not make your own tonic water? It’s easy-peasy, leaves out all the preservatives and whitening processes of store-bought tonic, and you’ll be mighty proud of yourself. Each kit makes enough for 30+ drinks. 

Kit includes: herb and botanical mix, cheesecloth, label, instructions, and recipes.

You provide: peels from half of each — an orange, lemon, and lime, and half-cup chopped lemongrass.
