1955 Chanticleer “King Size Cocktail” Glasses
This swanky large cocktail glass set of 4 is from 1955. The classic v-shape bowl features gilt gold and black Chanticleers and a sprinkling of atomic stars and dots. This gorgeous glass from the past stands 6 inches tall.
The rooster has long been associated with cocktails, as illustrated in this stunning set of 4. Each glass features a single Chanticleer in gilt gold and black. The v-shaped bowl is sprinkled with gold atomic bursts and black dots. The v-shaped makes it also the perfect martini glass. The stately column stem is fluted and topped with a crown.
This pattern was offered one year only, in the Fall 1955 issue of the Libbey Glass Co catalog. Named “King Size Cocktail” the glass is described as the “Giant cocktail with generous six-ounce capacity, decorated in “Chanticleer” gold and black motif is a favorite with home entertainers.” Somethings have not changed – this lovely set could be your favorite for home entertaining as well.
Glass measures 6 inches tall, 4-1/8 inch opening at the top, and holds 5-6 oz. There is some slight gold wearing on a couple of glasses. Please look at the images carefully. Contact us if you have any questions or would like to see additional pictures.
NOTE: We have three sets of 4 glasses each available.
No chips, cloudiness, or discoloration. Some slight gold wearing.
